Contact the International Program Department:
JK Woo, International Student Director:
Thank you for your interest in our Pre-K program here at Ross Corners Christian Academy. We have an action packed day full of learning. I hope this short letter answers many of your questions about the teacher as well as what we will learn and do on a daily basis.
In Pre-K, we use Abeka Book curriculum for Bible, Numbers and Letters. We will learn how to write the letters and learn the sounds that they all make. We also focus on writing numbers and counting to 100. Your child will learn basic shapes as well as how to draw them. We also learn a about music, seasons, weather, and our five senses. We do art projects several days a week and practice good cutting skills with scissors and coloring in the lines. Your child will also get PE class with our gym teacher several days each week.
Daily, we have morning snack, lunch, and an afternoon snack. For lunch, your child will be able to purchase lunch from the lunch counter, or bring their own. There are daily lessons in Bible, numbers and letters. Your child will do small centers where we focus on motor skills and independent work. We also have free play centers at the end of each day. This helps them develop social skills and allows a little freedom in what they choose to play. Weather permitting we will play outside on the playground or on the soccer field in the afternoons.
The design of our Pre-K 4 program is to prepare your child for Kindergarten, hopefully at RCCA. Your child will be able to spell their first and last name as well as write it. We memorize short Bible verses and a variety of sight words. They will know their colors, shapes, basics of shoe tying, zipping, buttoning and buckling. They will become semi-independent, and you will see big changes in your child. It is an exciting time for parents and children alike. Most importantly, we want your child to experience a Bible based education. Christ is the center of our school and classroom and will be evident in the lessons that are taught and the school work that is taken home.
Please remember that your child must be completely potty trained and independent in the bathroom to be enrolled in our program. They should be able to get their pants up and down by themselves and take care of their own needs. They will also need to be able to wash their hands by themselves.
Our Pre-K open houses are held on March 26th and April 2nd, 2019. Please visit our website at or call the school office for more information. If you have questions regarding the application process or tuition, please call the main office at 607-748-3301.
