Athletics

RCCA offers soccer, basketball, and cheerleading for students in grades 6-12. Our school colors are royal blue and white, and our mascot is a Ram. RCCA hosts 8 boys teams and 4 girls teams for our annual basketball tournament in December. The varsity teams also attend additional tournaments during the basketball season which have included Central Baptist and Bergen County (formerly Hackensack Christian).

RCCA is part of the NYPENN Christian Athletic Conference which includes schools from New York and Pennsylvania. League teams include Central Baptist, Triboro Christian, North Rome Christian, Twin Tiers Christian, Canaan Christian and Cortland Christian for both soccer and basketball. NYPENN holds season-ending tournaments for the top 4 teams at the end of each season. You can visit the league website at www.NYPENN.org for information about the league.

Mr. James Head

Athletic Director

Mr. James Head has accepted the position as RCCA's Athletic Director for 2021-2022.

James currently serves full time as the Regional Director for Soccer Shots Southern Tier and Soccer Shots Northeast PA. He manages the business development, professional partnerships, customer service and oversees all day to day operations of Soccer Shots (over 1000 children each season).

He is a graduate of Ross Corners Christian Academy and Davis College.  James enjoyed playing both soccer and basketball in high school and college.

James has coached for RCCA, Susquehanna Valley, Davis College, and the Binghamton Bulldogs.  He has truly coached “kids” from age 2-42!

James married Andrea, his college sweetheart and love of his life, and they have been blessed with 3 beautiful children, Joshua (PreK4 at RCCA), Violet (almost 2), and child #3 who is due in January 2022.

From Mr. James Head:  “Sports, as all things, should be done to the glory of God, and therefore, demand that we strive for excellence and success. Success, as John Wooden says, is the knowledge that you did all you could to become the best version of YOU that God made you to be. Sports give us that training ground for young Christian men and women to learn and grow outside of the classroom in pursuing excellence and success, overcoming obstacles, and learning to do more than they thought they were capable of, and to point all the glory received, to God.”

James and Andrea are members at Calvary Baptist Tabernacle Church in Vestal, NY.
